Course Overview:
This three days course in Safety Management Systems (SMS) is designed to introduce participants to SMS background, definition and application. This course will present leading concepts in SMS, provide insight into practices from around the globe and is designed to give participants the practical skills and knowledge to implement or enhance SMS within their organisation. The course will assist participants to understand the background and philosophy that underpins an SMS, defines the elements of an SMS and provide key tips and traps for implementation. There are different ways used by organisations to manage their safety risks, but one of the most common is through the establishment of a good safety system. Course Details:
Course Topics Covered: This course is the first module in a course series designed to provide the foundation for those wanting to develop an SMS from scratch or enhance an existing SMS. Background to the Course: With the maturity of SMS across industry, organisations are realising that there is more to an SMS than simply an SMS manual. A truly living breathing SMS is integrated into company operations, decision making and business practice. Course Outcomes: At the end of this course, participants will be positioned to lead the development and implementation of their organisation’s safety management system. This introductory course will explain the key elements of a safety management system, allows participants to conduct a gap analysis of existing systems and map a way forward for the maturity or enhancement of existing practices. Participants of this course will also develop a positive safety and risk culture. Supporting Resources: All units are supported with high quality course material, trainee workbooks, assessment guides or workplace assessment tasks. Each participant will receive a comprehensive resource pack which would include a program overview and a trainee guide. Participants will also receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course.
