Date: 24-25 July 2017
Location: Distinction Hotel, Hamilton
Aviation New Zealand and MetService invited all 18 to 25-year-olds with an interest in aviation to apply
for two free Leadership Conference attendance packages. Every year, around 300 representatives of the
NZ aviation industry meet to learn about and discuss relevant industry matters.
The topic this year: “Improving Performance”.
Claire Reweti, 25
Claire is currently mid-way through her multi engine rating training at Nelson Aviation College. She will
then be heading to Auckland for the Air New Zealand Integration Course before looking for a job in the
aviation industry. She explains her excitement for aviation coming from the rhythmic working of a lot of
people, involving a rapid advancement of technology. Claire thinks that her good eye for detail and analytic
skills will help her succeed in her future career in aviation.
Joshua Bywater, 20
Joshua Bywater is almost finished with his Bachelor of Aviation Management at Massey University. After
completing his degree he will be seeking a career in aviation as the global scale and unifying power of the
industry fascinate him. He sees himself as a good fit for the aviation industry as his problem solving skills
would be beneficial for an industry that is constantly faced with new challenges, including changing regulations,
competitions and environmental concerns.
Both of them will receive a scholarship valued at $1800 including
• Free two-day conference ticket including lunch
• Free three-night accommodation at a 4* star hotel
• Free Gala dinner attendance
• Free $300 travel voucher
• Free BauBax travel jacket with 15 features
As it was very hard to narrow down our choice, we also have decided to give a two-day conference ticket to four
other applicants. Tanja de Witt (Southern Wings), McKenzie Rayes (Nelson Aviation College), Joshua Collecutt
(Nelson Aviation College) and Sam Cubeles-Conway (Aerocare, Massey University) are invited to attend our
plenary and divisional sessions free of charge and get a glimpse into the NZ aviation industry.
We therefore are looking forward to seeing some fresh new faces at the conference!
