Security Screening of Domestic Passengers

Aviation Security what the Cabinet paper really said about domestic screening

AIA has been contesting for some time that domestic security screening applies to aircraft which seat more than 90 passengers operating regular scheduled services on main trunk routes.

Minister Joyce said "No you are wrong."  We'll now its higly debateable - the Cabinet paper says one thing, the Directive says another.

Its clearly a situation where the government of the day did not understand the importance of getting the terminology right and are now trying to correct the situation after the event.  Industry is clearly right on two of the three issues - this applies to main trunk and regular scheduled services only.
